AVRAMIDIS® heather honey from Ikaria

This honey is for you if you love honey with character.

Our heather honey is produced only in small quantities in Ikaria’s wild uplands. There, bees collect their nectar among heather, herbs, shrubs and the island’s native plants.

The plant known as Antraklas also grows near our beehives. Together with heather and the many wild plants in the surrounding area, it shapes the distinctive character of this harvest.

The result is a creamy, robust honey with bittersweet depth. It first tastes intense and slightly aromatic, then reveals a delicate caramel note. Some jars have a gentle bitterness in the finish – this nuance gives it its individual, unmistakable character.

AVRAMIDIS® heather honey is carefully harvested and bottled by our beekeepers on Ikaria. To achieve its liquid consistency, it is gently warmed to a maximum of 40 °C. This preserves this special harvest’s robust flavour, caramel depth and delicate, distinctive bitter note.

Enjoy it with hearty bread, matured cheese, Greek yoghurt or nuts, or savour it straight from the spoon.

Taste: robust, bittersweet, slightly aromatic, with a caramel finish

Origin: Ikaria, Greece

Character: creamy honey with natural depth and a delicate bitter note

Harvest: available only in small quantities

Uses: with cheese, yoghurt, bread or nuts, or on its own

Our heather honey can become firmer just a few weeks after bottling. This is part of its original character and a natural feature of this special harvest. Its rich, dense consistency suits its intense flavour.

For a more liquid consistency, place the jar in a gentle water bath at a low temperature.
